Congratualations and Thank You
Congratulations to James Swan and Berge Racing for winning its second straight Mid-American series championship. Anyone who has followed the team on this website and elsewhere knows it was not an easy season. We faced some tough times throughout the year and we faced some very tough competition all season long. The team worked hard and deserves this championship. In my first blog on this site in April, I wrote about how much fun we had after joining up with Adam Berge and James Swan in July 2006. I wrote “we are looking for more of the same in 2007…….. good friends, good times, good races, and maybe another Mid-Am series championship.” And that is exactly what we got in 2007.
Our team is second to none (two years in a row)! James has proven himself as one of the best drivers in the series no matter the track, the condition of the car, or the circumstances dealt him. We have the best crew in the series. Thank you to Adam Berge and Don Stardy for your leadership and hard work. Thank you to Ryan Farrell and Lenny Lisitza for your devotion to the team and all the time you have put in helping us be successful.
We had to beat some pretty tough competition this year. Thanks to all the other Mid-Am racers for running us clean all year. You guys are truly professional racers in every sense of the word. Congrats to Bill Prietzel, Jeremy Spoonmore, Bobby Gutknecht and Lyle Nowak on their great seasons and to Kyle Shear for winning Rookie of the Year and his win at Wisconsin Dells.
They don’t hear it enough, but thank you also to Doug & Julie Strasburg for running a great series. The average car count was up this year, the number of drivers making every event doubled this year and the competition was better than ever. Only one driver won more than one race. I also want to acknowledge the hard work and enthusiasm of Matt Panure. Despite the fact that Matt tried very hard to jinx us at Marshfield (ha ha), he calls a great race and keeps the Mid-Am website updated and current with all the news and some great write-ups. Thanks also to Dave Sankey and “Tech-guy” Ron for keeping the racing clean and everyone within the rules.
From the Finish Line,
Mark Blume
